Thinking about it was good, right? There wasn't an immediate 'no' so that was a start! Still, R'dal nibbled on his lower lip, unable to hide the worry he felt over what would come next and the guilt at making Valtala even have to make such a decision. But he couldn't pretend Edath didn't like the seacrafter! This was a good learning opportunity, however. It was a lot easier going out to cotholds and searching people that had a hard life and wanted something else. He had yet to come across someone that deeply loved their craft and would have a harder time deciding. Sure, most crafts were still needed within the Weyr but Valtala was so proud of his new rank and it wouldn't mean much if he accepted the offer and he would never advance beyond it.
He was about to tell Valtala it was okay if he wanted to stay out at sea when the man whispered something to himself that he barely caught. R'dal stopped biting his lip and gave a tentative smile. That statement was true and one that was hard to fully understand the weight of it until one Impressed. He had never felt alone growing up as he had a lot of friends and his mom was amazing, but once Edath came along, everything shifted. He had a constant companion that understood him and never had issues with his weird quirks and always supported and encouraged him.
He was about to explain that and ask if Valtala had questions to help sway him, but an answer came first. "Really? Yes!" R'dal gave a little hop and pumped his fist in the air, beyond excited. "We Searched a mermaid, Edath!" He giggled again and gave his dragon a quick hug around the neck. He knew it wasn't proper to hug the recently Searched like he really wanted to so Edath was always a stand in for the urge.
"Guess we should talk to the craft Master now? We don't really do the kidnapping thing anymore, but we could if you want to be dramatic in your exit. You could leave a note stating you ran off with an adorable bluerider." R'dal laughed at his silliness even as he straightened his tunic and then double checked he had his knots on. Telling a Master that he was taking one of his crafters was going to suck but he would have Edath with him and it would lead to helping his friend find a happier place to be himself. Definitely worth any awkwardness.
